✨DISCLAIMER I don’t claim to know everything about both of these incidents. However, in the case of Rebecca Zahau, I am standing up to the narrative of Rebecca’s death. Any other names mentioned in this are just theories.. for now. I cannot accuse any party of murder.✨
July 11-13: Coronado California
In the sweltering hot summer sun in California in 2011, two tragic incidents occurred. Jonah Shacknai’s son Max, who was six at the time, took a horrific fall from a two story banister. At the time, Rebecca was watching Max, and spending time with her teenage sister.
Sometime during the day Max was riding his scooter and went head speed over the banister. Max suffered very severe injuries. Xena, Rebecca’s sister, found Max and called 911.

First responders arrived at the scene and took Max to Rady Children’s Hospital. It would be days before Max eventually succumbed to his injuries and passed away.
Upon hearing the tragic news, family members began to point the finger at Rebecca, since she was the adult at the mansion.
This kicked off a series of unfortunate events. On the night of July 12th-July 13th, Rebecca Zahau was found dead hanging from the balcony on July 13th, 2011, at the time of her death, Jonah’s brother Adam, was alone in the mansion Adam. Adam’s room was within close proximity of Rebecca’s.

What is Adam’s background?
Adam Shacknai flew from Memphis, Tennessee.
Adam’s Timeline:
Adam’s alibi is perhaps one of the most perplexing part of this case. On July 12th, Adam, Jonah, Rebecca, and a man named Howard all had dinner together. After eating, Jonah heads back to Randy’s Children’s Hospital to stay by Max’s bedside with his ex wife and mother to Max.
Adam’s alibi was that upon returning to the mansion, he took an Ambien and had fallen asleep. This is where it gets pretty sketchy.
Ambien as we all know is a pill to help aid in sleep. Even so, it’s not a miracle pill that can render an individual into a deep sleep.
The most chilling part of the case is that a woman named Melissa told investigators that she had heard the screams of a woman coming from the direction of the Spreckles Mansion. Melissa stated that she heard the woman shout; “Help me! Help me!” Which is another suspicious aspect of this case. If the woman could hear loud music, and the cries for help, then so could Adam.
Burning questions:
- Was Adam ever asleep? Did he really take that Ambien?
- Why didn’t he tag along to the hospital with Jonah to be there for his nephew?
- When asked about Rebecca in interviews, Adam comes across as extremely defensive. Why? If you are innocent, why start panicking when the spotlight is on you?
- Why did he cut Rebecca down with a kitchen knife? (Crime scene tampering (maybe)
Please be advised as I point out a few crime scene photos that are already available. I will not however be showing any photos of Rebecca.
- The heavy duty red nylon rope. At the scene, investigators found that Rebecca had been bound by her legs and arms, which makes the suicide ruling NOT logical.
- Adam has had 30+ years of experience being a tugboat captain. In his line of work, they have use and access to these kinds of rope
- The Ambien is very unbelievable alibi and I think it’s obvious

As you can see, there is a red nylon rope tied to the bed frame. Investigators measured how far the window was from the bed, so Rebecca can somehow hop, scoot, or drag herself onto the balcony and onto the railing. This defies all logic. Paul Holes and his team recreated the scene and the bed frame was moved approximately 39 inches.

The courtyard balcony where Rebecca was found hanging. According to autopsy, Rebecca had been inflicted with blows to the head; (blunt force trauma)
Burning 🔥 hot question: if Rebecca had her hands tied behind her back, was gagged with her own shirt, and suffered a head injury, then how did she make her way over and off the balcony.
It’s not possible for her, me, or anyone else to do this. My theory is that Rebecca was more than likely attacked unbeknownst to her, and was struck in the head. Which would eliminate any defense wounds on the individual who has caused her death.

In the photo above we see a demonstration of that cryptic message left on the wall. It was written in paint, even though Rebecca’s family has stated she was a painter, it doesn’t mean that she did this.
The letter was written in the third person. In a suicide letter, why would someone refer to themselves in this manor?
- Where did the black paint come from?
- Who painted the message?
- Why write a suicide note on a door, instead of on paper?

Next time, I will be discussing the other inconsistencies in Rebecca Zahau’s case.
