Case # 1: A Murder In Room 222

Memphis, Tennessee: January 27,2010

On January 27, 2010, Sony Millbrook was reported missing after she didn’t show up to pick up her children from daycare. At this time, Sony, her boyfriend LaKeith Moody, and her children had been staying at the Budget Lodge Motel in Memphis.

Following Sony’s disappearance, LaKeith Moody had vanished, and motel management locked down the room (room 222) for non-payment, placing the couple’s belongings in storage. The police checked room 222, but did not thoroughly inspect the room.

Over the next few weeks, a very strange and foul odor grew stronger and stronger. This subsequently led guests to complain or change rooms.

March 15, 2010:

Six weeks had gone by since Sony had been reported missing. Motel staff finally searched the room thoroughly and discovered Sony’s decomposing body hidden and wedged inside the metal frame of the box spring/bed. An autopsy later determined that Sony had been strangled to death.

The Investigation & Aftermath:

Turns out that evidence and testimony had revealed a history of domestic abuse. LaKeith was charged and convicted of first-degree murder, resulting in a sentence of life imprisonment.

Now, Moody is serving out his life sentence without the possibility of early release.

*Note: I personally think “early releases” of violent crimes should NOT be considered. Throw the fucking key away, and may LaKeith never see the light of day.*

As for Sony’s children, her family ultimately took custody of and raised her children.

Such a heartbreaking case this one. I had once heard of this case, and it is very disturbing that for months, Sony’s body was left there to rot. That is very undeserved and not fair.

Case # 2: The Brutal Murder Of Markia Benson-March 30, 2016

*Note: I will go into a little detail of Markia’s death, and it is a very heavy, brutal, and graphic case. Discretion is advised.*

Let us join hands and travel to- Pennsylvania: Secane, Upper Darby Township, Delaware County:

On the morning of March 30, 2016, 36-year old Markia Benson failed to show up for work and did not answer her phone, Markia’s boyfriend and coworker went to check on her apartment.

The doors were locked and her car was still in the driveway. Despite this, they managed to gain entry into her apartment.

What they found inside was a violent, sadistic, hateful, very personal, and chaotic scene.

According to the findings of law enforcement, evidence indicated that Markia was violently attacked and beaten in or around her bedroom before being dragged into the bathroom.

Her body was found nude and submerged in a bathtub with the hot water running. An autopsy revealed she had died from a combination of blunt and sharp force trauma to her head and neck, complicated by scalding and immersion.

Her apartment was in complete disarray. Personal items such as her passport were shredded to pieces, papers were strewn about, and trash was dumped.

There were derogatory messages scrawled on her wall; the killer left hateful messages.

There were no signs of forced entry, which indicates Markia knew her attacker and allowed them to come inside her apartment, likely in the early morning as she was getting ready for work.

For now, Markia’s case remains unsolved. Due to the violent and personal nature of the crime, I’d say all responsibility goes to Markia’s ex-boyfriend. I remember reading her case, and there was an ex-boyfriend who had been abusive towards Markia.

It would also explain the no forced entry, since Markia knew him personally. This case has yet to be resolved.

Police eyed Markia’s ex-boyfriend as a primary person of interest, and he reportedly failed a polygraph; authorities were never able to secure the definitive forensic links needed to file formal criminal charges.

*face palm.* Sometimes, the proof is right in our faces. Seriously, because who else would have access- personal access at that- given the apparent violent and jealous ex.

Must I do everything myself?

Anyway, this is a tragic case of a young life that was taken too soon. This type of crime is usually tied to personal vendettas and petty motives.

Le sigh. Markia, what a bright light in the world you were. Fly high with the angels, and May you rest in peace.

Case # 3: The Mysterious Death Of Mitrice Richardson

Monte Nido, California; September 2009

Disappearance: September 16, 2009, Malibu, California

Mitrice went out to eat at a restaurant called Geoffrey’s. While there, Mitrice ordered food and a drink, and the total came out to be an $89 bill.

Other customers in the restaurant had noted Mitrice’s behavior to be rather unusual. She was talking about how she lived on Mars, and a few other offbeat things.

This resulted in the establishment calling the Malibu Police. Upon arrival, they searched Mitrice’s car and found possession of marijuana.

She was arrested on charges of “suspicion of not paying for the meal” and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

According to the arresting officers, upon her arrest, her phone, purse, and money were secured in her car, and her car was towed to a tow yard on the Pacific Coast Highway.

Mitrice’s mother the informed the station of concern for her daughter’s mental health, and despite the station promising to hold Mitrice until morning.

September 17, 2009:

Mitrice was released on September 17, 2009, at 12:28 AM with no belongings and no means for calling for assistance.

August 9, 2010: Monte Nido, California:

On August 9, 2010, the remains of Mitrice Richardson were found. To this day, we have no answers about what exactly happened to her, but the police should have kept Mitrice in custody since she was clearly distressed.

If you ask me, this was handled so poorly by some half-assed people who clearly lack any common sense.

I think that the staff at the restaurant should have been a bit more compassionate. Like, I get that you want your customers to pay for their meals, but they could have made some kind of exception here.

You’d think that Mitrice would’ve or rather, should’ve, been under the care of people who know how to handle someone who is mentally distressed. Alls I’m saying is that… common sense is a thing. USE IT.

Anyway, before I get heated. Let’s pivot back to Mitrice.

I read a lot about who Mitrice was as a person. She was beautiful, ambitious, and extremely intelligent. I also found it to be an inspiration that in life we can have as many passions as we please. To me, Mitrice was the blueprint for that.

She dabbled in all kinds of fun things when she was alive.

I shall cherish your inspiration in my heart and think of you fondly, always. Rest In Peace, Mitrice ❤
