Case # 1: The Disappearance and Murders of Lauria Bible and Ashley Freeman

I received this book for Christmas one year from my mother, shout-out to her. This is an indeed book that I highly recommend reading. It’s the story about two teenage girls; Lauria Bible and Ashley Freeman.

For this we will briefly travel to Welch, Oklahoma: December 29 or December 30, 1999.

The Disappearance: December 29, 1999:

High school friends Lauria Bible and Ashley freeman spent the evening together celebrating Ashley’s 16th birthday. Lauria had been given permission from her parents to spend the night at the Freeman home.

Lauria was expected back home the following day, but never returned.

Earlier in the day the girls spent time at a local pizzeria with Ashley’s mother, Kathy.

December 30, 1999: 5:30 AM-

A motorist who was passing by reported that the Freeman home was engulfed in flames. It was determined by law enforcement that the fire had been due to arson. Inside of the home, were the charred remains of Kathy, Ashley’s mother lying on the floor of her bedroom. She had been shot in the head. At first no other remains were located, leading law enforcement to conclude that Ashley’s father, Danny Freeman, had shot his wife and fled with both girls.

December 31, 1999:

Lauria’s parents Lorene and Jay returned to the scene, with the hope of finding any additional clues that have been missed. While they were walking around the rubble, they located; it was the body of Danny Freeman. He too had been shot in the head, execution-style.

Following the grim discovery the girls were nowhere to be found. In 2010, the Freeman family initiated court proceedings to have Ashley declared legally dead.

I’ll leave this one on that note, because I definitely insist on reading this book. Jax Miller did an incredible job with this case, it’ll definitely keep you on your toes until the very end.

Case #2: The Disappearance of Asha Degree

Let’s pack up and go to…

Shelby, North Carolina: February 14, 2000

This one is for the steel hearted because it’s such a strange case, that no one knows what promotes nine-year old Asha Degree to pack her bags, and leave the safety of her home in the middle of the night.

On February 13, a Sunday, the children went to church from a relative’s house and returned home. Everything was carrying on as normal; at around 8 p.m. that night, the kids went to bed in the room that they shared.

An hour later the power had gone out in the neighborhood after a nearby car accident. The power came back on again at 12:30 a.m in which Harold checked on his children and saw both Asha and O’ Bryant asleep in their beds. Harold checked on the kids again before going to bed at 2:30 a.m. on February 14 and saw both children again in their beds, sleeping.

After Harold had gone to bed, O’Bryant who was 10-years old at the time, recalls hearing Asha’s bed squeak. He did not further rouse himself, as he had assumed Asha was merely shifting positions in her sleep.

It was around this time that Asha got out of bed, taking a book bag she had previously packed with several pairs of clothes and personal items, and left the house.

Asha was never seen again. It’s very strange that she had a book bag pre packed already. Where was she going?? Why did she leave in the middle of the night? A nine- year old roaming around at wee hours of the night is terrifying.

Case #3: The Black Dahlia- (Elizabeth Short)

This one my dears is vintage kitten crime. I’ve never properly looked up the case entirely too much, but I’d love to give it a go. For many years now I assume tons of independent researchers have dived into this case. My turn next! (When time allows me)

This one I know is slightly disturbing, so proceed with caution. Discretion is advised.

January 15, 1947- Los Angeles, California.

Oh, hey California.

22-year old Elizabeth Short was murdered in a very, very gruesome way. Her nude body was found severed into two pieces; one was found in a vacant lot on the west side of South Norton Avenue, between Coliseum Street and West 39th Street; in which was largely undeveloped at the time. Elizabeth’s severely mutated body was completely severed at the waist and drained of blood, leaving her skin a pallid white.

Excuse me ☝️!? Excuse me but who the hell.

It was determined by a medical examiner that she had been dead for around ten hours prior to the discovery, leaving her time of death either sometime on the evening of January 14 or the early morning hours of January 15. The body had appeared to have been washed by the killer.

Say what, now. I am sorry I am learning about this as I go.

Her face had been slashed from the corners of her mouth to her ears, creating something called the “Glasgow smile.” She had several cuts on her thigh and breasts, where entire portions of her flesh had been sliced away.

Sweet Jesus. Y’all get the point. Rewind it a little bit:

Apparently on January 9,1947, Elizabeth returned to her home in Los Angeles after a brief trip to San Diego with Robert “Red” Manley. A 25-year old married salesman she had been dating. Manley stated that he dropped Elizabeth off at the Blitmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles..

So what In the fresh hell happened here? I am willing to bet it was some sadistic ass killer who was doing entirely too much, because what was the reason for her death? Is it something tied up in her personal life? What even. Yeah I am definitely gonna be researching this one because what the FUCK.
