The Short Report update: Spencer & Monique Tepe 🌌

Hello friends! I hope you’re all having a splendid Sunday! Spring Break starts this week for me so I am soooo excited.

Today, I checked back to see if there were any new updates on the case of Spencer & Monique Tepe. I have a few posts here on my blog, but I will give you a quick rundown.

Spencer and Monique were a young couple living in Columbus, Ohio with their two young children. The two had practically just gotten married and were close to celebrating an upcoming wedding anniversary.

However, on December 30th, 2025, that would all come shattering down.

A memorial outside of the Tepe household.

On the morning of December 30th, Dr. Spencer Tepe failed to show up to work, he was a bright, kind, and succesful dentist. His coworkers thought it was out of character for him not to show up to work.

911 was called immediately for a welfare check. A cop who was dispatched to the residence arrived, but got no answer. Not soon after, coworkers arrived at the Tepe residence and heard two young children crying inside.

They soon made their way to the bedroom and found both Spencer & Monique shot to death.

Spencer was 37, and Monique was 39. Their children and the family dog were unharmed, but who could have done this?

That leads us to Michael Mckee, 39, a doctor in Chicago who was formally married to Monique back in 2017. Friends and reports have noted that Mckee was emotionally abusive towards Monique and even threatened her life.

Michael Mckee, left.

Mckee was arrested on January 10th, 2026 and taken into custody in Winnebago County. He is still being held.

I did find out some new updates in the legal process for Michael David Mckee, the suregon accused of murdering Monique and her husband, Spencer.

  1. Mckee has been indicted by an Ohio grand jury on: four counts of aggravated murder, 1 count of aggravated burgurlary.
  2. In January of 2026, Mckee pleaded not guilty during an arraignment in Franklin County, Ohio.
  3. He appeared remotley from jail and reportedly did not speak during the short hearing.
  4. his defense attorney entered the plea deal on his behalf

The Evidence agaisnt Mckee:

  1. Surveillance video places him near the home before the killings.
  2. His vehicle was tracked showing he had traveled from Illinois to Columbus and back.
  3. A gun recovered from his apartment allegedly matches ballistic evidence.

If Mckee is convicted, he could face life in prison without parole, though Ohio also allows life with parole eligibility after decades depending on the counts and specifictions.

Where the case stands now:

  1. Mckee is currently being held in the Franklin County Jail in Ohio.
  2. The case is moving through the pre-trial proceedings, and no trial date has been finalized yet based on the latest public upddate.

I will make a new and organized post about this when I can, as I still want to give it sometime for more information to be fleshed out.

Until then, please check out this Gofund Me page that was set up by Audrey (Tepe) Mackie cousin to Spencer and Monique.

The page is set up in support for Spencer and Monique’s children: https://www.gofundme.com/f/supporting-spencer-and-moniques-children

This post is subject to change as I only added small tidbits about the case in.

See you next time! L.W.🌟
